Courses Offered:

 

Course Title: Art History CP

  • Course Length: One Semester (5 credits)
  • Grade Level: Grades 9-12
  • Prerequisite: No prerequisite; Satisfies fine art graduation requirement

The basis of the course is to provide an opportunity for students to develop his/her understanding of art history. The class will focus on visual communication, trends and influences in art, and the history of art in the western world. Students will learn to develop and present their understanding of the techniques through projects and written responses.

Course Title: Art Survey

  • Course Length: One Semester (5 credits)
  • Grade Level: Grades 9-12
  • Prerequisite: No prerequisite; Satisfies fine art graduation requirement

The basis of the course is to provide an opportunity for students develop his/her understanding of visual art. The class will focus on appreciating the visual arts, the elements of art, and the principles of design. Students will learn to develop and present their understanding of the techniques through artistic projects and written responses.

Course Title: Drama

  • Course Length: One Semester (5 credits)
  • Grade Level: Grades 9-12
  • Prerequisite: No prerequisite; Satisfies fine art graduation requirement

The basis of the course is to provide an opportunity for students develop his/her understanding of drama. The class will focus on terms and vocabulary, special topics in drama: exploration, preparation, performance, and specialization. Students will learn to develop and present their understanding of the techniques through drama projects and written responses.

Course Title:Drawing I CP

  • Course Length: One Semester (5 credits)
  • Grade Level: Grades 9-12
  • Prerequisite: No prerequisite; Satisfies fine art graduation requirement

The basis of the course is to provide an opportunity for students to develop his/her understanding of drawing. The class will focus on terms and vocabulary, special topics in drawing, and types of drawing: realistic, structural, and expressive. Students will learn to develop and present their understanding of the techniques through drawing projects and written responses.

Course Title:Graphic Design

  • Course Length: One Semester (5 credits)
  • Grade Level: Grades 9-12
  • Prerequisite: No prerequisite; Satisfies fine art graduation requirement

This course will cover the foundations of graphic design. Students will have a clear idea of the business aspects of the career by the completion of the course. The topics that will be covered are: visual perspectives, creativity, tools and techniques, readying for press, teamwork, and graphic design innovators.
