Welcome to the 2010 Fall Orientation Forum
Success in the new year!
When asked what kind of school ILP is, I am always faced with a way to describe it and this is my best attempt: ILP is a college prep independent study program that is similar to college in that we have independent learning, workshops to share ideas and learn from the teacher and students, and a study lab. It is different in that we give students more supports than in college such as weekly meetings for one-on-one attention from a teacher and we break down the assignments by week instead of by semester. The thing that impresses me the most is the way that ILP students tackle this process each in their own unique way. You are preparing yourselves for college, jobs, and the adult world!
I would like this first forum to be a place for returning students to think about what you have done in the past that worked well for you and share that with others as it might be just the trick they are looking for. New students, I would like you to take a look at your own past and find something that helped you in your education or something you would like to try to improve your success this year at ILP. I hope that this forum will help you meet someone new or learn a new way to find success in the coming year!
Everyone should post something. :) -Mrs. Bariel

=D sup peoples!
So, as my advisor from junior year, Ms. Hoffman (now Mrs. Pettler) knows, I turned in low quality work every week, not to mention I got 100% only a couple or so times for the whole school year. It was pretty pathetic. Looking back on that, I want to make up for it by turning 100% every week and graduating with a 4.0. I'll be pretty dissapointed in myself if I'm not going to be able to pull that off, because I have just 4 classes left, and one of them I don't even do homework for. At least not yet. If there was one thing I learned from last year, it's that there is no substitute for studying. Really learn your material and you will ace your classes. You don't have to sacrifice your social life to do that.
This year, I would like to
This year, I would like to improve my organizational skills to help me succeed in ILP. I have never really been organized in the past, and this year, I want to change all that and start fresh. My personal goal for this year is to stay organized and get better grades by doing so.
Great goal, Marcos!
